About Us

Why DogSafeBites exists

Your dog is staring at your plate, and you want to know one thing: can they have a bite? DogSafeBites answers that question quickly and clearly, so you can make a safe choice in the moment instead of searching through ten different tabs.

We cover everyday foods, from fruits and vegetables to snacks, meat, dairy and leftovers. For each one, we explain whether it’s safe for dogs, whether it needs limits, or whether it should never be shared.

How we write our articles

Every article starts with a direct answer. After that, we explain the reasons behind it: what in the food can help or harm a dog, how much is too much, and what signs to watch for if your dog eats something it shouldn’t.

We check our information against trusted veterinary and animal health sources. These include the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center, the Merck Veterinary Manual, the American Kennel Club and published veterinary research. When new information comes out, we update our articles. You can read more about this process in our Editorial Policy.

What we are not

DogSafeBites is an educational website. We are not a veterinary clinic, and our articles don’t replace advice from your own vet, who knows your dog’s age, weight and health history. If your dog has eaten something dangerous, call your vet or an animal poison hotline right away.
